Flood Control System

The DPWH Zamboanga del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office has completed the construction of the PHP 50 million flood control project along the Sibuguey River in Barangay Damit, Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur.

The project is expected to boost safety and support livelihoods by reducing displacement and minimizing economic damage from recurring floods.

Spanning 282.4 meters, the structure was funded through the General Appropriations Act for the Fiscal Year 2024. It is designed to offer lasting protection against flooding and aims to strengthen the community’s resilience and provide a safer living environment for residents.

“This initiative addresses the persistent threat of flooding in the area, significantly reducing risks to communities, farmlands, and key infrastructure,” the DPWH-Zamboanga Peninsula said in a statement.

Multi-Purpose Building

The DPWH-Zamboanga Peninsula also announced the completion of a PHP 10 million multi-purpose building in Brgy. Townsite, Maluso, Basilan.

The multi-purpose facility is designed to serve as an extension office for the municipal hall, helping to bring government services closer to residents and improve accessibility and convenience. The 328-square-meter, two-story structure was funded through the Fiscal Year 2024 budget.

The project also reflects the dedication of the Isabela City District Engineering Office to improving public service and accessibility.

“This project underscores the agency’s dedication to advancing community infrastructure and fostering the well-being of the people by providing quality public facilities,” the DPWH-Zamboanga Peninsula said.
