President Roxas, North Cotabato—In response to persistent landslide threats along the Paco-Roxas-Arakan Valley-Junction Davao Bukidnon Road, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a critical project to enhance road safety and stability.

The recently completed project covered 3,482 square meters in Barangay Poblacion and involved the installation of advanced slope protection measures. These included erosion control mats, high tensile wire mesh, and soil nailing with 32-mm diameter bars and 5-meter anchors. Such interventions are designed to fortify the road against soil erosion and potential rock falls, ensuring the safety of motorists and pedestrians alike.
Completed in March 2024, the initiative was funded with ₱96.44 million allocated from the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
Landslide Risks and Project Impact
President Roxas is known for its susceptibility to landslides, particularly during the rainy season. These incidents not only disrupt daily commutes but also pose significant risks to public safety. The newly fortified road aims to mitigate these risks, providing a safer passage for local residents and travelers.
Led by DPWH Region 12, the project exemplifies a proactive approach to infrastructure development. The department aims to minimize environmental hazards and ensure continuous road usability by deploying state-of-the-art engineering solutions, including robust slope protection mechanisms.
