A student was injured after a concrete slab from the NAIA Expressway fell on their SUV in ParaƱaque City. The incident has prompted an investigation by Skyway O&M Corporation, the operator of the expressway.
The victim, who was driving the SUV, was injured and subsequently hospitalized. The vehicle sustained damage to its windshield, hood, and roof. Barangay rescue teams were the first to respond to the scene, providing immediate first aid to the student.
Skyway O&M Corporation, a subsidiary of San Miguel Corp. (SMC), described the incident as “isolated and unusual.” The company has stated that it is conducting a thorough inspection of the expressway to ensure the safety of the public and to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
In a statement, the company confirmed that it is in communication with the family of the injured student and has pledged to provide assistance. SMC is also conducting its assessment of the integrity of the expressway. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of the elevated expressway.
