Northern Samar has set aside ₱338.4 million this year for 17 infrastructure projects, ranging from new roads and farm-to-market links to evacuation centers and public buildings, all aimed at improving access and essential services across the province.
Officials reported that three of these projects have been completed, while the rest are still in progress. According to the provincial government, the initiatives aim to ease the movement of goods and people, provide safe shelters during emergencies, and strengthen access to education, healthcare, and other social services.
Key Projects Across the Province
Road and connectivity projects include the concreting of a road in Magsaysay village in Bobon, the construction of the Genagasan–Cabungaan–Victory–Gebulwangan–Kaghilot–Tobgon road in Silvino Lubos, a farm-to-market road connecting Simora–Palapag Road to Cagdarao in Laoang, and an access road for the Government Center in Catarman.

Improvement works are also underway on the Polangi–Gebulwangan and Libjo–Cabayhan farm-to-market roads.
Community facility projects in Catarman include the second phase of the municipal building, renovations to the local Land Transportation Office, drainage construction in Old Rizal village, and the development of a reservist building.
Other facility upgrades include improvements to the village hall in Makiwalo, Mondragon, and the installation of solar streetlights along the national highway in San Jose.
For emergency preparedness, evacuation centers are being built in Tangbo village in Catubig, Coroconog in San Roque, Catigbian in Laoang, and Poblacion 1 in Pambujan.
Additional Developments in the Province
Although separate from the P335M program, other recent infrastructure milestones have been noted in Northern Samar.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has completed a ₱40-million satellite warehouse in Allen.

The facility can store relief goods for 10,000 to 15,000 families and is expected to speed up disaster response not only in Northern Samar but also in neighboring areas.
Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has finished a ₱12.83-million steel bridge in Barangay Central Poblacion, Gamay in January.

Designed for pedestrians and motorcycles, it replaces an aging wooden footbridge, offering safer passage over the Gamay River.
