MANILA, Philippines—Vince Dizon was appointed as the new Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and officially took his oath of office on Monday, September 1, 2025. In his initial statements, he outlined a clear agenda focused on internal reform and transparency.
Secretary Dizon’s immediate priority is to conduct a “clean sweep” of the agency to restore public trust. He has called for the courtesy resignation of all DPWH officials, from the highest ranks down to the district level, to pave the way for a thorough review of personnel.
One of his first official acts was the dissolution of an internal anti-corruption committee. Dizon explained that an agency cannot and should not investigate itself, emphasizing that such probes must be conducted by an independent body to ensure impartiality. He assured that all findings and documents gathered by the former committee will be turned over to the proper authorities.
The new secretary is tasked with leading a comprehensive review of the department’s projects and processes. His administration aims to ensure that public funds are utilized properly and that all infrastructure development is of high quality and serves the best interest of the Filipino people.
