Nueva Ecija, Philippines The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently announced the successful completion and turnover of five infrastructure projects in Nueva Ecija’s first district, marking a significant advancement in the region’s educational development. The projects include four new school buildings that benefit the towns of Aliaga, Carranglan, San Jose City, and the Science City of Muñoz.
Details of the Completed Projects
Among the completed infrastructure projects is a new 555-meter-long, two-lane road in Barangay Macabucod, Aliaga. This road was completed in May 2024 and is expected to facilitate smoother transportation for approximately 200 to 500 daily road users, predominantly local farmers. The improved road network will enhance access to agricultural markets and other essential services, promoting local economic growth.
As for the four new school buildings, each was constructed as a single-storey structure and is strategically located to serve different areas:
- Carranglan: A new building with four classrooms has been added to Carranglan Central School, providing additional space and resources for students in the area.
- San Jose City: Sto. Tomas Elementary School received a similar four-classroom building, catering to the growing number of students and enhancing the learning environment.
- Science City of Muñoz: Two school buildings were completed, each housing two classrooms, at Pandalla Elementary School and San Andres Elementary School.
These school buildings are designed to offer a safe, comfortable, and accessible learning environment. Each facility includes toilets, handwashing areas, corridors, and gutters. To ensure accessibility, especially for persons with disabilities (PWDs), the buildings are equipped with ramps and handrails.
