MANILA, Philippines – In a move aimed at bolstering infrastructure quality standards nationwide, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has mandated the adoption of ISO 9001:2015 certification for civil works contractors. This initiative, announced by Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, emphasizes the government’s commitment to ensure that Filipino construction professionals continue to adhere to international quality norms in industry practices.
Under the new guidelines outlined in Department Order (DO) No. 110, series of 2024, DPWH has expanded the scope of contractors required to obtain ISO certification. Effective immediately, Large “A” contractors involved in projects of any scale must comply with ISO standards starting January 1, 2025. Medium “B” contractors will follow suit from July 1, 2025, with Medium “A” contractors required to be certified by January 1, 2026. Additionally, Large “B” contractors managing projects exceeding P300 million in value remain subject to the existing ISO certification mandate.
“This new DO will allow us to further filter our contractors and ensure we have the best implementors of our massive infrastructure projects under President Ferdinand R. Marcos’ Build, Better, More program,” said DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan.
