With the completion of Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge last year, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) plans to partially open it sometime in May 2021. The 440-meter, four lane  bridge is a major component of the Bonifacio Global City – Ortigas Road Link project, which aims to mitigate traffic woes affecting the business districts and the roads connected to it.

“With a few more needed finishing works, we’re very excited to partially open a new connectivity between Bonifacio Global City (BGC) and Ortigas business districts to the public by the second quarter,”  DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said.

The BGC-Ortigas Center Link Road Project started construction back in 2017. The DPWH expects that the road project will vastly reduce the travel time between BGC and Ortigas from an hour to eleven minutes.

Besides this, the DPWH is also hard at work completing other infrastructure projects to upgrade the road travel conditions of motorists nationwide. In fact, the agency is coordinating closely with the NLEX Corporation to connect NLEX to MacArthur Highway. This initiative can decongest traffic and improve accessibility for places such as Santo Tomas, Pampanga, Lubao, and Minalin.

These road infrastructure projects are just some of our small wins despite the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 crisis. Soon, more are expected to be finished and boost road conditions for all motorists in our country.
