Megawide Construction Corporation has secured the contract to design and build a new terminal at Godofredo P. Ramos Airport (Boracay Airport). This project, announced by Megawide Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Edgar B. Megawide’s Role in the Project

In partnership with San Miguel Corporation (SMC), Megawide will lead the terminal’s construction. The new terminal is expected to handle seven million passengers annually and will include eight passenger boarding bridges.

“This will be another exciting opportunity for Megawide — to be able to work with one of the country’s largest and oldest conglomerates, SMC, and help realize its vision of a world-class facility at the Caticlan airport,” said Saavedra.

The groundbreaking is scheduled for December, with a projected completion time of up to three years.

Landing A Partnership with SMC

SMC, known for its infrastructure projects, is focused on improving the country’s airports. Chairman and CEO Ramon S. Ang expressed confidence in Megawide’s remarkable resume.

“We believe that Megawide’s track record of building key infrastructure through efficient and sustainable practices will help us deliver a world-class facility within our committed deadline,” SMC chair and CEO Ramon Ang said.

Megawide has significant experience in airport development, including the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) in partnership with GMR Airports International BV, and the Clark International Airport terminal.

Broader Impact of The Collaboration on Philippine Aviation

SMC’s ongoing infrastructure projects include the ₱740-billion New Manila International Airport (NMIA) and the rehabilitation of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). These projects are expected to improve the country’s aviation infrastructure and boost tourism.

The new terminal at Boracay Airport will enhance the passenger experience and support Boracay’s tourism growth. The partnership between Megawide and SMC is a significant step toward modernizing the Philippines’ airport infrastructure.
