The Olympic fever isn’t over, as Filipina Olympian Hidilyn Diaz brings home the country’s first Olympic gold medal, a feat 97 years in the making. The 30-year-old weightlifter dominated the women’s weightlifting 55-kg event at the Tokyo Olympics last Monday.
Aside from bagging the gold medal, Diaz is also set to receive cash incentives and rewards from the government and different private sectors for bagging the country’s first gold Olympic medal.
₱10 million from the government
Diaz is set to receive P10 million from the government Under Republic Act 10699 through its sports agency Philippine Sports Commission (PSC). With that, the gold medalist would be the first Filipino athlete to receive that amount from the said sports agency.
Thanks also to the private companies who pledged and pushed the pot to at least P40.5 million.
₱10 million
San Miguel Corporation President and CEO Ramon Ang also committed to give P10-million to the gold medalist.

Business magnate Manny Pangilinan has approved P10 million for Filipino gold medal winners.

Diaz is also set to receive cash incentive from the local government of her hometown, Zamboanga City
₱5 million cash and free fuel for life
Who doesn’t want unlimited fuel? Siklab Atleta Sports Foundation head and Phoenix Petroleum chair Dennis Uy pledged P1 million cash and free fuel for life to the gold medalist.
₱14-million residential condominium unit
Last Tuesday, July 27, Tan’s Megaworld Corporation announced that it will be giving Diaz a residential condominium unit in Eastwood City. According to Kevin L. Tan, chief strategy officer of Megaworld, it is their way of saying thanks to Diaz for making us Filipinos proud.
₱4-million house and lot
Century Properties pledged Diaz’s choice of house and lot at any PHirst Park Homes.
House and lot in Tagaytay
Diaz will also receive a house and lot in Tagaytay, according to Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino.
80,000 free miles every year, for life
Diaz will receive 80,000 miles ever year, for life, from Philippine Airlines. She will be the PAL’s first Forever Flyer!
Lifetime free flights
Is this #TravelGoals? Bet we are all envious with the lifetime free flights offered by AirAsia Philippines to Diaz.
If you were Diaz, what’s the first thing you would do with a P40.5 million? Or the first place you would want to visit?
