Indoor landscaping is the art of incorporating biophilic designs in a space. It delivers a calming and relaxing ambiance, ridding a place of its blandness with the use of natural materials, texture, lighting, and other natural elements.

Many office spaces and establishments have turned to this type of design, and rightfully so. Apart from its recuperative features, indoor landscaping has shown to help increase creativity, work productivity, and reduce mental stress. Its effort to reconnect with nature bids well to workers, especially those who are in for long hours.

Looking to have this done on your workspace? Listed below are the most common indoor landscaping to think about:

Indoor Gardens (Softscaping)

Indoor gardens or interior green gardens are popular within the corporate scene. Their designs mainly focus on providing people something simple and refreshing to look at during stressful moments. Maintenance for this setup is necessary, but they are not as complicated to care for as other indoor landscape types, such as horticultures and waterscapes.

Indoor gardens may consist of a small, contained space within a well-lit area. You may have this designed to mimic small gardens or courtyards. It can also simply take the form of living walls and room dividers for small shrubberies. They may also come as a collection of indoor plants that have either been integrated into its interiors or in the form of more traditional greeneries in movable containers.

Stone Landscaping (Hardscaping)

Who says plants are the only thing you can decorate an office space with? Stone gardens and stone landscaping, in general, are just as effective in creating an attractive and natural environment. This is typically used in open areas because of its anti-weather properties.

For interior settings, they tend to act as a low-maintenance alternative to green gardens. It sometimes gives off a brutalist architecture vibe, but with rocks and pebbles rather than concrete.

Water Landscaping (Waterscaping)

Water landscaping involves the use of several elements to create natural sceneries akin to fountains, ponds, or miniature waterfalls. This aims to create the illusion of motion to provide a calm, but lively form of atmosphere within a designated area. Water scapes also complement all forms of landscaping, but the implementation of such functionality is more complex and technical.

Waterscaping should not be confused with aquascaping. The latter simply refers to the art of beautifying aquariums and aquarium-like containers.

Others

Other landscaping types offer a mixture of those that were previously mentioned with an added depth of complexity for the sake of making grandeur impressions. These can be indoor horticulture, indoor floating gardens, and other plantation systems.

Horticulture requires cultivated and well-cared plants to achieve a unique greenhouse or courtyard-like ambiance for a given area. It is the equivalent of growing a beautiful crop garden just to serve as eye candy. The setup is costly and undoubtedly taxing to maintain alone. This is why it is mainly used by affluent establishments that can dedicate manpower resources to maintaining it on a daily basis.

Interior landscapes serve not just as a design choice or a general health benefit. They also serve as a way to show a brand or a company’s personality. Having a space or two dedicated to plant systems leaves a positive impression for businesses.

If left uncared for, however, it can provide an unintended hint at how unkempt the business is. So keep those plants watered, those rocks pest free, and the fountains clean, for they are a part of your building no matter what.
